Can you hear me?

John Waters, speaking on NPR the other day, talked about how everyone wishes they were in show business and that this is the source of most peoples misery. I was, at first (and kind of still) shocked at his arrogance. Thinking about it, he’s right in a way. The images we get as part of our media brain washing are of people with perfect bodies, perfect occupations, and perfect pass times. For that we yearn. The only thing is that, I think, the most famous person yearns for the same. Looking at Tim Robbins at the Oscars in an off guard moment, the guy doesn’t look happy, and his older kid looked miserable the whole time. So, John, we all want to be in show business and none of us are. Or conversely, I’m just as much in show business as you are.

A Note:
This month marks a change for me in that I’m gonna start uploading music from my home studio. Up until now it’s all been “professionally” recorded stuff, except for the Trajesty video. This may be great news to some and bad news to others. I haven’t run out of studio stuff. It’s just that I wrote and recorded this number in the last day while thinking about John Waters and the Oscars and I want to share what I’m feeling and not just anthologize myself.

I also want to be a good enough engineer so that no one will know the difference between what I record here and there.

I WISH I WAS YOU

What do you think?
